“Donna Lopiano, 59, is a passionate advocate for women and girls and a blunt critic of the world of sports. She is the longtime CEO of the Women’s Sports Foundation, which is headquartered in suburban New York City. Lopiano, former director of women’s athletics at the University of Texas, is perhaps the nation’s staunchest defender of Title IX, the federal law that ensures sports and education equality for girls and women. She is also a booster of exercise for young girls. The Women’s Sports Foundation, with an annual budget of $7 million, spends much of its resources these days on a program called “Go Girl Go,” helping girls nationwide to get fit.” …
