League of Fans sports policy director, Ken Reed, has a new book nearing publication: How We Can Save Sports: A Game Plan. It will be published by Rowman & Littlefield in early February.

“I’m excited about the book,” said Reed.

“There are a lot of books out there that look at a single sports issue, whether it be concussions, youth sports, college sports, whatever. In How We Can Save Sports, I had several objectives: 1) Examine nine of the most pressing sports issues of the day; 2) Look at the common threads connecting all of the issues; 3) Increase awareness and understanding of the importance of each issue; 4) Present some possible solutions; and 5) Promote citizenship through sports activism, whether it be locally or nationally.”

The book includes lists of helpful resources for readers interested in change at various levels—from youth and high school sports, to AAU and college athletics, to professional sports.

“I hope How We Can Save Sports is informative,” says Reed. “But what I’m really hoping is that it helps empower sports stakeholders who care deeply about the impact of sports today, on both individuals and society, to take action wherever they can.

Stay tuned for more information as the publication date nears.
