The Oakland A’s, always known as one of Major League Baseball’s most progressive organizations, have become the first major league team to hire a female coach.
Justine Siegal will be a guest instructor this month for Oakland’s Instructional League club.

It’s another first for Siegal who became the first woman […]

I read two concussion-related stories this morning. One, was a blurb about former NFL player Adrian Robinson, Jr. Robinson, who played for several NFL teams during his short career, killed himself at age 25. Wednesday, an autopsy confirmed that Robinson had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease linked to repeated […]

Sometimes I wonder if a lot of coaches in America are even familiar with the concepts of sportsmanship and sports ethics.

Way too many coaches are raving lunatics on the sidelines … running on the field or court to challenge referees, and verbally (and sometimes physically) abusing their own players.

Supposedly, according to NCAA execs, athletic directors and their apologists, only about 20 NCAA FBS Division athletic departments make money. Most people, including sports columnists and writers […]

“Best Decision I Have Ever Made”

Mason Darrow was terrified. He wasn’t afraid of failing a class, losing a parent, or what a doctor’s diagnosis might be. He was afraid to be himself.

Darrow is a 6’5″, 285 lb. offensive lineman for NCAA Division I member Princeton University. He’s also gay. But […]
