There are a lot of examples of selfish, spoiled professional athletes today. Udonis Haslem isn’t one of them.

The Miami Heat forward recently purchased a six-bedroom, four-bath house for his stepmother who took him on as a toddler when Haslem’s biological mother was battling substance abuse problems.

“I am blessed that God has provided me the opportunity and ability to provide for my family,” Haslem said. “I wouldn’t be here without her. She raised me since age 3. I can never repay her and all I can do is show my gratitude.”

It’s heart-warming to learn about successful people who understand that they didn’t end up where they’re at in life based on their talents alone.
