Becky Hammon, the first woman to be the head coach of an NBA summer league team, recently led the San Antonio Spurs to the Las Vegas Summer League championship with a 93-90 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

“They listened and played hard for me,” said Hammon, who also was the first paid female assistant coach in the NBA this past season.

Hammon, a former Colorado State and WNBA star, continues to prove that two key factors, a good basketball mind and the ability to effectively communicate, are more important than whether your body has male of female parts.
